Description

Indeed more changes appear to be coming to Illinois concerning Cannabis/THC and specifically as to how employers manage drug testing beginning in the pre-employment stage and continuing throughout the employment relationship. With the surge of recreational marijuana use throughout Illinois, the State is looking at ways to better protect job applicants and workers who lawfully use marijuana outside of work.
The management-side Labor & Employment attorneys at SmithAmundsen LLC have been intimately involved in the legislative process and want to provide Illinois employers the very latest insights and information related to employer drug testing policies and practices concerning lawful recreational and medicinal use of marijuana. While blanket protections for workers who lawfully use Cannabis are not in motion, the vast majority of employers will soon be required to revise their drug testing policies once again and give deeper thought to a variety of circumstances and factors on the subject.
