DESCRIPTION:Peoria German American Society to hold its 12th Annual Fasching Ball (Traditional German Costume Ball) on Saturday\, February 7 at the Lindenhof\, 7601 N. Harker Drive in Peoria\, IL.  \n\n                          \n\nThe event runs from 6:00 pm to midnight and is open to the public.  Cost is $8.00 a person.  Attendees are encouraged to bring an appetizer to share.  There will be a costume contest with prizes.  Cash bar.\n\n                                                \n\nArea favorites the West MacQueen Street Band will perform from 7pm   11 pm.\n\n \n\nWhen other countries of the world celebrate "carnival"\, in Munich "Fasching" is celebrated. "Fasching" comes from the medieval word "vaschnc"\, in present-day\n\nGerman "Fastnacht" and relates to the fasting period\, which begins immediately after Fasching and is what we know as Lent.
