SUMMARY:Annual IVY Club Invitational Cardboard Boat Race
DESCRIPTION:The Illinois Valley Yacht & Canoe Club (IVY Club) is hosting the annual IVY Club Invitational Cardboard Boat Race benefiting the Alzheimer's Association Illinois Chapter. Handmade cardboard boats will be on display for crowd voting and then will race along the Illinois River\, starting in the north harbor\, to raise funds and awareness for the Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.  Prizes will be awarded for the top 3 boats in racing and the top three boats in show.\n\n\n\nIn Illinois\, there are 220\,000 individuals with Alzheimer's disease and almost 600\,000 providing them with unpaid care and support. The funds raised from this event will help the Alzheimer's Association provide care and support to local families affected by the disease and will help advance vital research. The event began benefiting the Alzheimer's Association due to an increase in club members being affected by the disease.
