DESCRIPTION:Marchtoberfest!\n\n \n\nWhy wait until the fall to enjoy a German Oktoberfest?  A Marchtoberfest will be held Sunday\, March 20th - Noon to 6 pm at the Lindenhof\, 7601 N. Harker Drive\, Peoria\, Illinois 61615.  Marchtoberfest heralds the end of Winter and the start of Spring\, much like Oktoberfest signals the end of Summer and the beginning of Fall. \n\n \n\nThe buffet will consist of Schnitzel vom Schwein\, parmesan chicken\, bratwurst\, Bavarian smoked ham\, German potato salad\, mashed potatoes & gravy\, green beans\, spaetzle\, sauerkraut\, and red cabbage.  Apple strudel or apple cake for dessert is $2 extra.\n\n \n\nKids 10 and under who wear a German lederhosen or a Dirdnl will get to eat for free.  All kids 12 and under without a German attire can enjoy the buffet for $6.  \n\n \n\nEntertainment will also be provided starting at 1pm and will include Alphorns and Al's Pals.  If the weather permits\, we will have a number of arts and craft vendors outside.\n\n \n\nTraditionally\, the beers served at Oktoberfest were brewed in March or spring and then stored underground during the summer before being served in September.  German summers were typically too hot to brew lagers.  These M rzen (March) biers were the historic forerunner of the Oktoberfestbiers of today.  Special beers\, including Oktoberfest\, will also be available for the event.  \n\n \n\nThe Lindenhof features a full bar with three German beers on draft\, a selection of German wines\, and German liqueurs.
