Description

Please join us for a celebration of Winter German Style, Sunday, Jan. 31st - Noon to 6 pm At the Lindenhof , 7601 N. Harker Drive, Peoria, Illinois 61615 Phone (309) 691-7484.  The event is being sponsored by Harmonie-Concordia.

We are offering a special German buffet for $12.00 per person.  The buffet will consist of Schnitzel vom Schwein, parmesan chicken, bratwurst, smoked ham, German potato salad, mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, and red cabbage.  Apple strudel for dessert is $2 extra.

Kids 9 and under who wear a costume from the Disney movie “Frozen” will get to eat for free.  All kids 12 and under without a costume can enjoy the buffet for $6.

At Winterfest we will also be serving several bock and dopplebock beers besides our regular selections.

Bock and dopplebock beers trace their roots back to the Catholic Paulaner monks who originally prepared strong beer to endure the Lenten fast during the 17th Century.  Although it was forbidden to eat for 40 days during those times, the monks were allowed to drink.  It was for this reason that they brewed a filling drink, the monks' "liquid bread," to help them last during the Lenten season.  The strong, malty beer was classified as a bock or doppelbock.  Literally, Doppelbock means double bock (bier).

Terry Bredenburg will be playing the accordion from 1-4 pm.

The Lindenhof features a full bar with three German beers on draft, a selection of German wines, and German liqueurs.

Proceeds from the event will be used to fund the various activities of Harmonie-Concordia, as well as for charitable contributions including music scholarships for Bradley University.
