Description
The Fine Arts Society of Peoria is offering a presentation by Dr. Nicole Myers. The popular 19th century artists? collective now known as the Impressionists was comprised of a long, constantly shifting roster of painters, sculptors, and engravers who exhibited together between 1874 and 1886. Most beloved and most frequently discussed may be Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, and Paul Cezanne. Of this vast membership, three of its most critically acclaimed and financially successful members were its sole female practitioners: Berthe Morisot, Marie Bracquemond, and Mary Cassatt. Dr. Nicole Myers will consider the vastly divergent careers and artistic production of these talented yet underrated, if not mostly unknown, artists within the Impressionist movement. As Chief Curator and Research Officer at the Dallas Museum of Art, Myers leads the Museum?s Curatorial, Conservation, and Library & Archives departments, in addition to overseeing the European art collection.
