Artist Dale Chihuly is known throughout the world for his innovative sculptures and epic outdoor installations. Fans and collectors alike now have another opportunity to see his work up close and in person during a special exhibition starting in November at the Peoria Riverfront Museum. PBS viewers will be among the first to get tickets to this highly anticipated exhibit during a special joint broadcast of Chihuly Outside appearing on WTVP and WILL-TV on Thursday, November 7th at 7:00 pm.
Chihuly Outside covers nearly half a century of Dale Chihuly's work in outdoor installations. The film chronicles Chihuly's first experiments with floating glass on water and using ice and neon, his early work at Art Park in upstate New York and his decade-long exploration of large-scale installations at 12 of the world's preeminent botanic gardens and conservations.
During the broadcast, viewers will learn more about "Chihuly and Friends: Highlights from the George R. Stroemple Collection," coming November 23, 2013 - April 13, 2014 to the new Peoria Riverfront Museum. There will also be a special ticket offer to see the exhibition in person when viewers call in to support either station.
Chihuly Outside also marks the first joint live broadcast by WTVP and Illinois Public Media. On-air personalities from both stations will be featured. Contact information for viewer support will be specific for each station so that viewers can support their own public television outlet.
