Marchtoberfest

Description

Why wait until the fall to enjoy a German Oktoberfest?  You are invited to attend our one of a kind Marchtoberfest on Sunday, March 8th - Noon to 6 pm at the Lindenhof, 7601 N. Harker Drive, Peoria, Illinois 61615.  Marchtoberfest heralds the end of Winter and the start of Spring, much like Oktoberfest signals the end of Summer and the beginning of Fall.  The event is sponsored by Harmonie.
 
Our special buffet for $13 per person will consist of Schnitzel vom Schwein, Frikadellen (German Meatballs), bratwurst, parmesan chicken chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, cheese potatoes, sauerkraut, and red cabbage.  Apple strudel or apple cake for dessert is $2 extra.
 
Adults who wear a dirndl or lederhosen will get $2 off of the buffet.


Kids 5 and under will eat for free!    All kids 6-10 years of age without German attire can enjoy the buffet for $6.  If they wear German lederhosen or a Dirndl the buffet is $4!
 
Entertainment will also be provided from 12:30-5:00pm by Terry Bredenberg, followed by Jean and Larry on the accordions.
 
Traditionally, the beers served at Oktoberfest were brewed in March or spring and then stored underground during the summer before being served in September.  German summers were typically too hot to brew lagers.  These Märzen (March) biers were the historic forerunner of the Oktoberfest biers of today.  Special beers including Oktoberfest biers will also be available for the event. 
 
The Lindenhof features a full bar with German beers on draft, a selection of German wines, and German liqueurs.  We accept cash and checks only.
