Tech-savvy and want to help the Tornado Relief efforts? Bring your skills to the first Startup Peoria Civic Hackathon.
This Thursday we will be coming together with a purpose: To help the Central Illinois tornado recovery efforts through technology.
A hackathon is an event where a large number of people meet to engage in and complete collaborative technology building. Bring your ideas and laptops as we discuss and then build ways to help our community!
PublicStuff (http://www.publicstuff.com) will be there with their civic API to help on the development side of things. PublicStuff's Application Programming Interface (API) will help developers to deliver apps to help those affected by the storm to raise notifications of needs and access resources.
Thursday evening, November 21st, we will gather at the Greater Peoria Business Alliance from 4:30 onward. All kinds of skill sets will be needed: from business, marketing and design, to development, IT, PR, etc. We expect to break at 9:30 pm.
Startup Peoria will also be collecting donations to provide to local charities that are assisting in the recovery efforts.
