Keynote speaker and exhibit curator Jennifer Brier, PhD is an Associate Professor in the Program in Gender and Women’s Studies and History Department at the University of Illinois at Chicago, who specializes in US gay and lesbian history, the history of sexuality and gender, and public history. She is the author of Infectious Ideas: U.S. Political Response to the AIDS Crisis.
Also to be recognized is Illinois Representative David Leitch, who sponsored and authored the first piece of legislation that provided funding for the first clinical grant and thereby helping to establish the Heart of Illinois HIV/AIDS Center in 1994, which was renamed earlier this year to Positive Health Solutions.
