Description
Annual Meeting
The Peoria Historical Society will hold their Annual Meeting in conjunction with their Quarterly Lecture Series on May 7, 2014 from 7:00-8:30 pm at the Peoria Riverfront Museum (lower level). Members and guests are welcome. Three new board members will be voted onto the Board. Annual award winners will be recognized: Volunteer of the Year, Centenarian Awards (business achieving 100 years in business in 2014), Guardian Award, and the Historic Preservation Award. The fundraising raffle winner will be drawn for the Dinner for Eight at one of the Museum Houses. The guest speaker, Mrs. Vicki Howell, is the great-great-granddaughter of Josiah Fulton, one of the first seven Americans to settle at the site of the burned Fort Clark along the banks of the Illinois River in 1819. This marked the beginning of the establishment of the American settlement which would grow into today's city of Peoria. Mrs. Howell will share her information on the Fulton family, including family memorabilia and documentation. Please join the Society as they celebrate their 80th Anniversary in achieving their mission to preserve, share and celebrate the stories of the Peoria area.
