“Third Annual Das Bier Run!”
 
The Third Annual “Das Bier Run” 5K Run in conjunction with the Oktoberfest in Peoria Riverfront Park to be held Sunday, September 21st.  The run begins at 12:30 pm and starts near the Gateway building on the Peoria Riverfront.  Walkers are welcome to participate.
                                                   
The race is being sponsored by the Peoria Jaycees, the Peoria German-American Society, and the Peoria Park District.  Races have been part of Oktoberfests since they were started in the early 1800’s.  At that time though it was horse racing and not foot races. 
 
Advance registration is $25.  After September 1 and on race day the registration fee is $30.
 
A commemorative 1 liter stein will be given to those runners who register early.  All participants will receive 2 tokens for either beer or soft drinks after the race as well as free admission to the Oktoberfest on the day of the race. 
 
Runners and walkers are encouraged to dress up in Oktoberfest or fun attire for this fun Fall event.  There will be prizes for best costumes.
