Description

Join us on Friday, October 13th for an evening of inspiration! Prairie Rivers Network will bring one of the largest environmental film festivals to Peoria (Riverfront Museum, 222 SW Washington St) on October 13th. The festival features short films inspiring you to take action. "The Pollution of Our Waterways," a film produced by Illinois high school students in Urbana, was selected by the Smithsonian Institute for its travelling exhibit Water/Ways. "One Hundred Thousand Beating Hearts" tells the story of fourth generation cattleman Will Harris and his evolution from industrial commodity cowboy to sustainable, humane food producer. "The Wild President" features President Jimmy Carter's adventure paddling down the Chattooga River's Bull Sluice. He grew up in awe of nature's wonder, but it wasn't until he paddled a wild river that he understood its power. This film celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Wild & Scenic Rivers Act. The Wild & Scenic Film Festival is a collection of films from which speak to the environmental concerns and celebrations of our planet, and it gives PRN an opportunity to inspire the public to affect environmental change here in Illinois. The festival offers ways for the public to get energized and empowered to work to protect clean water, wildlife habitat, and our rich natural landscapes. Reception at 6:00 PM. The film program begins at 6:30 PM. Tickets are $10 or $30 plus membership donation to PRN. More information is available at prairierivers.org/wsff_peoria/
