The Illinois River Road National Scenic Byway, recognized for its natural and historic qualities, is one in a collection of 150 America?s Byways® located throughout the United States. The Illinois River Road traverses both east and west sides of the Illinois River from Ottawa to Havana, along a route that takes visitors through forests, wetlands, bluffs and prairies, as well as many unique communities along the way. The Byway organization unites and promotes more than 100 nature sites, 40 communities and 10 counties as part of a regional destination to be explored by visitors and residents and a region to be significantly enhanced by small business growth.
