Hockey Alumni Unite to Benefit Tornado Relief Fund

December 26 (Peoria, IL)-  In response to the overwhelming need by central Illinois tornado victims, the Peoria Rivermen Alumni Association (PRAA) have scheduled an exhibition game between the Chicago Blackhawks Alumni and the St. Louis Blues Alumni Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 7:00pm at the Peoria Civic Center.   On November 17^th, an F-4 tornado touched down in Central Illinois completely destroying or causing severe structural damage to over 1,100 homes.  As clean-up efforts continue, the emotional and physical challenges of recovery are evident.
 
“We are looking forward to the Blackhawks and Blues Alumni game at Carver Arena.  Central Illinois has been overwhelmed by the support we have received from all over since November 17^th.  This game will give us a chance to watch the players that we all grew up with.  The City of Washington would like to thank these players for their effort and support,” said Washington Mayor Gary Manier.
 
“The Chicago Blackhawk Alumni Association is proud to participate in a charity hockey game with the St. Louis Blues alumni on January 15^th.  This is our way of giving back to the community and supporting the Central Illinois Salvation Army Tornado Relief Fund”, said Cliff Koroll, Blackhawk Alumni President, “We are looking forward to the game and are hoping for a lot of additional support from the community.”   
 
Many alumni fan favorites from both teams will be on the roster.  “The St Louis Blues Alumni are proud to return to Peoria and join in the relief effort while being a part in what will prove to be an enjoyable evening of entertainment,” said Terry Yake, St Louis Blues Alumni Association.
 
Organizers are requesting a minimum $10.00 per person donation at the door for general seating.  Doors open at 6:00pm with the face-off at 7:00pm.  The game format will feature two thirty minute periods, with one twenty minute intermission.   During the game, fans can get player autographs and buy 50/50 tickets.  Immediately following the game teams will also auction player jerseys.
 
The Peoria Rivermen Alumni Association (PRAA), established in 2009, is a non-profit organization that utilizes funds to benefit youth hockey in central Illinois.  Their goal is to “give back” by becoming involved in the community, charity events and provide scholarships to deserving hockey players.
